New Contemporaries Bursary Award: Andrea Zucchini

October 2017

Andrea Zucchini is the third recipient of the New Contemporaries’ Studio Bursary with SPACE. Andrea has 12 months access to a free studio in Deborah House Hackney. His fascination with digital technology lies in its ability to act as a sculptural tool, enabling the appropriation and disruption of historical narratives. Through exploring multiple mediums of working, he juxtaposes the scientific to the mythological, the geologic to the cosmological.

Andrea completed his MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art in 2015 . Recent shows include Arco Madrid with F2, Madrid, 2017; Foresight by Earth, Tenderpixel, London, 20016; Here the Sun does not enter, two person show in collaboration with Sam Smith, Assembly Point, London, 2016; Some Astronomers Kept a Distance, two person show with David Ferrando Giraut, Salon Madrid, 2016; and Alchemical Studies, Tenderpixel, London, 2014.
