Future SPACE
This year SPACE is celebrating 50 years of supporting artists in London. To help mark this anniversary, 4 proposals have been selected from an open call relating to the theme Future SPACE:
Joonhong Min: Future’s Present
20 April – 14 July
Jade Montserrat, curated by Chris Rawcliffe
19 July – 7 Sept
Opening Wed 18 July, 6-9pm
Nicole Morris and Maria de Lima: INGEST
14 Sept – 10 Nov
Opening Thu 13 Sept, 6-9pm
Paul Chapellier, Rachel Cheung, Anna Mikkola and MH Sarkis: 2068
15 Nov 2018 – 12 Jan 2019
Opening Thu 6 Dec, 6-9pm
The selected projects relate to the conditions of making art, the future for artists and the role that space in the city plays in this. The selected exhibitions consider alternative futures, the role of art objects, conditions for artists in London today and self-organising initiatives.
Through this open call SPACE extends its mission to provide space, resources and opportunities for professional visual artists to create art, to develop their creative potential and for wider audiences to engage with creativity. SPACE’s vision is to support resilience and sustainability of artists in a changing urban environment. We hope these exhibitions will stimulate debate on imagining or proposing futures for artists and the role SPACE can play in this.
