Artists Namuun Zimmermann, Rike Glaser, Adam Blencowe and Thor ter Kulve are delivering the 2017 People Power programme with secondary schools in East London.
This year they will investigate the ‘glocal’, or global/local, nature of the schools’ neighbourhoods, joining up with shops and shopkeepers to unearth stories of community and cultures, and looking at how areas have evolved and developed through migration. The children will create a series of 3D objects that respond to the collected stories and narratives, and place the new artifacts back into the shops, making a physical archive. A map will be produced to take visitors on the trail, and an exhibition launched at SPACE Gallery in October.
People Power #9 is linked to Fourthland’s BearMotherHouse commission at SPACE.
