SPACE’s first out-of-London studios, SPACE Colchester was opened in February 2017 offering 37 creative studios, a workspace facility and cultural venue at 37 Queen Street, Colchester, Essex. Set in Colchester Old Police Station, a listed building in the heart the town’s creative quarter, SPACE Colchester provides the local community with 12,000 sq ft of creative space, co-working desk space, workshops and training programmes, and showcasing facilities for the creative and digital industries. Located close to Firstsite, The Minories and St Botolph’s Priory with Colchester Town station nearby. In 2018, the building won a RICS Award for Best Regeneration Project in partnership with Colchester Borough Council and Essex County Council.

SPACE’s Creative Practitioner Support Programme is run from our Colchester hub, offering creatives the opportunity to share peer-to-peer feedback in a friendly and informal setting.

SPACE Toolkit, a programme of professional development for creatives, ran from 2017 until July 2019.
