SPACE Patrons & Friends Studio Bursary in partnership with Wimbledon College of Arts awarded to Clara Dias in 2017

Clara Dias has been awarded the first SPACE Patrons & Friends Studio Bursary in partnership with Wimbledon College of Art, which provides a free studio and support at SPACE Triangle for 12 months.

SPACE Patrons & Friends Studio Bursaries are created to support exceptional artists at a crucial time in the development of their practice. Its aim is to reduce the impact of cost on success through provision of free workspace within a supportive studio environment.

Clara Dias (b.1984, Portugal; lives and works in London) has recently graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Arts Painting from Wimbledon College of Arts - UAL (2017) and has also received a BSc Nursing from Escola Superior de Bissaya Barreto in Portugal (2006).  In 2016, she was awarded the Prunella Clough Painting Scholarship from Wimbledon College of Art. Clara’s practice alludes to the laceration of the human body and the nature of repairing and healing. By embodying materials' surfaces, the work reveals the relationship between skin and surface.

“The bursary provides a crucial support to continue my research, produce work and sustain my creative practice, enabling its exposure to a wider audience, as an emerging artist in the contemporary art world” - Clara Dias
