Call out: be part of a new exhibition exploring Immigration, Heritage and Community
June 2023
Free & open to all
SPACE Ilford

SPACE is looking for Redbridge residents to participate and be a part of a new commissioned piece of work by the artist Kenneth Lam. Kenneth has been selected to produce a body of work which will be displayed at SPACE Ilford Gallery in early 2024.

Kenneth Lam is a photographer based in London and Hong Kong. He traces individual and familial memory. His works serve as personal narrative – a continual rumination on queerness, British-Chinese identity and familial bonds. His work has been featured in publications such as Nowness, Financial Times, Wieden + Kennedy and the BBC.

If you are based or have roots in the Redbridge area and are willing to share your stories of Heritage, Immigration and Diaspora, please contact SPACE as we are looking for stories and subjects to photograph. Open to any age, gender and ethnicity.

The artist will meet participants who are interested in taking part on Saturday 10 June 2023, 11am – 3pm at SPACE Ilford, 10 Oakfield Road, Ilford IG1 1ZJ.

Further meetings will be planned and organised for a more in-depth profile of the stories and participants, along with a schedule for a photography shoot, which may take place at a given location or within the participant’s home, to finalise the self-portrait and autobiographical story.

This project will take place across a few dates between June and November 2023.

If you are interested please contact SPACE Community Engagement Coordinator Daniel Picone at Daniel@spacestudios.org.uk
