Give blood art show

Artists at Norfolk House, Deptford organised a one day “bring and hang” open air art exhibition on the railings of Lewisham Hospital to highlight the need for people to give blood during a blood shortage in South East London in the late 1980s. Organised by SPACE studio holder Geoffrey Standen, he said, “The purpose of the event is to have a good art show, and attract newcomers to donate blood. The exhibition will not only boost blood supplies, but will show that, like blood, art is vital to life.”
