SPACE presents: INFRA_SPECTION@The White Building : Staying With The Trouble
Fri 26 Jun – Sun 28 Jun 2015
INFRA_SPECTION@The White Building : Staying with the Trouble marks the culmination of the 12 month INFRA_SPECTION residency cycle at SPACE. Spanning both exhibition spaces and with the kind support of CRATE Brewery, The White Building will host a weekend of artist-led events, discussions and showcases critically probing the (highly opaque) infrastructures of our everyday lives.
The weekend will feature new work by the final cycle of INFRA_SPECTION residents Kei Kreutler, Matthew Plummer-Fernandez, Erica Scourti and Revital Cohen & Tuur Van Balen around geopolitical landscapes of data, experience encryption processes, browsing decoys, satellite constellations and estranged astrologies. This coincides with the SPACE Open Studios weekend across the surrounding Hackney Wick area.
Staying with the Trouble will mark the coming together of artists, theorists and cultural practitioners involved with the residency cycle and expanded field of investigation. The programme will also provide a public arena for wider public discussion of the residency’s associated provocations - including #stacktivism, governance and the public realm. The weekend activities will include an exhibition tour, evening performance and screening events and public group discussions.

Sun 2-4pm Open Forum
Prompted by Donna Haraway’s injunction for staying with the trouble, an open forum[n] conversation will focus on critical discussion around questions of art and/ versus activism, the complicity at the intersection of art and technology, and how contemporary global and self-scales[o] are produced.
A mix of friends, interested parties, academics, and other artists have been invited to respond to these questions in an open discussion format chaired by Erica Scourti.
