Studio Gil, Waterpark Universe (The Aquapolis)

Jul 2025 – Mar 2026

Keywords: Water slides, Swimming pool, Waves, Ocean, The Great Wave off Kanagawa

This universe is liquid from the moment you enter. Streets are lazy rivers, and buses are clear-glass submarines gliding through sapphire canals. The Ilford Exchange is now a cascading tower of rainbow flumes that twist like tentacles into a shimmering lagoon.

The architecture is fluid, shaped by waves and wind: a fusion of Art Nouveau and Japanese woodblock prints. Giant holographic waves crash and freeze mid-motion across buildings, like permanent odes to The Great Wave off Kanagawa.

Here, water isn’t just a backdrop – it’s alive. It whispers secrets, guides visitors. At night, the ocean glows with bioluminescent colours, and families gather on floating rafts to watch, where sea creatures crafted from coral and cloud drift past in magical silence.

For this universe we were inspired by the vivid colours and forms of Latin American artists such as Seba Calfuqueo and Amelia Pelaez.

The Waterpark Universe is one of the worlds imagined by Studio Gil as part of their billboard commission, The Ilford multiverse.
