Minyoung Choi, Dreams for hire

Space K Seoul is pleased to present 《Dreams for Hire》, a solo exhibition by London-based artist Minyoung Choi (b.1989). The artist gathers fragments of memories from her childhood and experiences of migration and presents them as dreamlike scenes between dreams and reality. Dolphins appear in the Han River at sunset, penguins appear next to a person asleep in the living room, or a rainbow in the middle of the night shines like a cluster of moons, creating a new landscape where elements that wouldn’t coexist on the same screen are mixed together. The artist’s magical realist landscapes invite us to imagine unique narratives and meanings. Minyoung Choi’s strange and familiar world feels like dreams where the impossible is realized, and they allow us to look at the various realities we encounter in a new light.
