Linda Simmonds and Jenny Blanchard: BORDERLANDS

Linda’s artwork includes painting, printmaking and mixed media. It covers several central themes that have areas of cross-over.

Main areas of exploration are:
1 land boundaries/location/safety/capture;
2 forests/parks/environment
3 communication/memory/isolation

Her way of working with paint and collage is intuitive, layered and abstract.

The starting point for Jenny Blanchard’s Paintings and Prints are drawings of simple structures. Many of these spark from childhood, for example: making dens and building dangerous shelters. Originally they were erected out of curiosity and adventure whilst gathering thoughts on refuge. The current images consider basic frameworks which are skeletal and impermanent and also robust, animated and mobile.
