Gal Lesham: SPACE/New Contemporaries Studio Award 2023
We are thrilled to announce that Gal Leshem is the 2023 recipient of SPACE/New Contemporaries Studio Award 2023.
“Receiving the studio bursary is an incredible opportunity for me right now. It will allow me the space to develop a new body of work with weeds as its protagonists. I hope to focus on printmaking with foraged materials as ink and realise a couple of book projects that have been slowly simmering. Having the space for a full year allows for this to be a seasonal and place-based endeavour, one which – for a migrant artist who’s also a mother now – is both an act of rooting down and a questioning of the notion of roots.” Gal Leshem
