New Contemporaries Bursary Award 2018: Katie Schwab

We are delighted to announce that Katie Schwab (BNC 2015) is the fourth recipient of the New Contemporaries’ Studio Bursary with SPACE. From 1st April 2018, Katie has access to a free studio in Deborah House, Hackney, for 12 months, where she will develop her practice. In addition to the studio, Katie will also have access to professional development support provided by both organisations.

Katie completed her MFA at The Glasgow School of Art in 2015. Recent projects include 'Atrium Commissions', mima, Middlesbrough (2017); 'A Portable Mural', Serpentine Galleries, London (2017); 'Jerwood Solo Presentations', Jerwood Space, London (2016); 'Making the Bed, Laying the Table', Glasgow Sculpture Studios, Glasgow (2016) and 'Together in a Room', Collective, Edinburgh (2016). Recent workshops include We Are Family, Arnolfini, Bristol (2017); Dear Friends, Serpentine Galleries, London (2016) and Work Hands, Tate Britain, London (2014). Katie was the recipient of the 2016 Nigel Greenwood Art Prize; the 2017 Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Residency at Porthmeor Studios, St Ives and the 2017-19 Design Residency and Exhibition at Plymouth College of Art.
