SPACE is delighted to announce that Isobel Bedeau has been awarded a 6 month rent-free studio space in our Ilford building as part of our Patrons & Friends Studio Award.
Isobel is a recent graduate from Brighton University and City & Guilds of London Art School. As an emerging young artist who has always lived in Redbridge, the award enables her to develop her painting practice without financial restrictions limiting her and with the support of SPACE’s Artist Development Team.
Working from thoughts and memories, Isobel’s work is a process of recollection. The forms become responsive to the materials and process of making. The imagined and unconscious thoughts are realised as drawn images, appearing fluid and illusive as memories merge, the drawn marks becoming their language. A sense of community emerges.
Isobel says of her award: “The studio has given me a space to develop the scale and depth of my work, experimenting with the colour and textures of forest forms and natural landscapes.”
