Jala Wahid is the inaugural SPACE Patrons, Friends & Alumni bursary recipient and will have a free studio at Deborah House in Hackney. The bursary runs until September 2015.
The bursary was created to support exceptional artists at a a crucial time in the development of their practice. It’s aim is to reduce the impact of cost on success through provision of free workspace within a supportive studio environment.
Graduating from Goldsmiths BA in Fine Art in 2014, Jala also received a first in Physics from University of Manchester in 2010.
She said of the bursary: “Without this generous studio bursary opportunity, my practice would become unsustainable….with it I can afford to be more experimental and develop my practice…”
