Andy Singleton, Natural connections

1 Apr – 1 Oct 2025
Free and all welcome
SPACE Ilford

Launch event: Tuesday 1 April 2025, 4 – 7.30pm

Discover the deep connections between our human bodies and the natural world through the awe-inspiring paper sculptures of artist Andy Singleton. Andy brings his intricate artistry to the gallery, crafting a spectacle that blurs the lines between architecture, nature, and the human form.

Step into a world where the boundaries between the human body and nature dissolve. Andy Singleton’s large-scale installation peels back the skin, exposing the intricate patterns of the nervous and vascular systems as they expand into the space – an evocative representation of our internal consciousness and our deep-rooted connection to the natural world.

Taking inspiration from Redbridge’s historic buildings and parks, the exhibition intertwines geometric and organic forms with the delicate inner workings of our bodies, reminding us of nature’s power to soothe and restore. The spaces meditate on how we connect – to each other, to the spaces we inhabit, and to the wider rhythms of nature.

Interwoven throughout the space, delicate paper plants and flowers created by Redbridge residents breathe life into the installation. Inspired by the patterns of both architecture and nature, these handmade elements embody the collective creativity of the community. Together, they form an artwork that reflects our shared longing to connect with something greater than ourselves.

At its core, Natural connections is a reminder of the unity that exists just below the surface. Beneath our skin, we are all the same, part of the same vast, interconnected web of life. The exhibition invites us to pause, reflect, and recognise the ever-present bond between humanity and the natural world.
