“I wanted to make immersive art that was three dimensional. Paper is an immediate format. You can work with it quickly and create a lot of volume in a rapid way. With other materials like, say, clay, there’s a big process, where you have to wait for it to dry and then you fire it and glaze it. There’s an immediate satisfaction with paper.”
