Exploring ways to transform space through culture, colour and digital technology. Join an interactive and playful workshop combining multi-media storytelling, augmented reality technology and painting.

This workshop will explore how we can transform space through culture, colour and digital technology, with urban visionaries Colour Your City and leading augmented reality (AR) app and visual discovery browser Blippar. This is an interactive and playful workshop combining multi-media storytelling, augmented reality technology and painting.

We’ll explore what culture is, how culture expresses itself through colour and space, the role of digital technology in re-narrating culture, colour and space, how colour and AR can transform the world around us in physical and digital layers, and be transformative tools of civic and cultural empowerment.

We’ll go on a field trip walking through the Olympic Park, arriving at Here East to co-create AR-enabled artworks in small groups. Firstly in a physical way using paint, markers and collage. Secondly a digital layer by creating a multimedia AR ‘blipp’ using Blippar’s creation tool.

Colour Your City is a participatory global movement dedicated to reimagining urban space with colour. It invites people to look at their city as a canvas, and reimagine how it can be transformed with colour to energise space and serve well-being. Colour Your City is designed for people to directly engage with the space around them, and actively transform it physically, using colour as a powerful and versatile entry portal and conceptual axis to civic participation and public space design. The project also aims to harness new tech superpowers to engage with the concept of transforming space with colour and enhance our understanding of it, in new and innovative ways, such as using augmented reality to create new layers of interaction and meaning to physical space using new tech and digital devices.
