Create sculptures inspired by current exhibitions, Hiddenware and Ley Lines at SPACE Gallery Ilford with artist Emma Douglas.

Use everyday found objects such as tin cans, tech paraphernalia (e.g. old CDs, VHS tapes), jam jars, plastic bags, cardboard packaging. This workshop is about creating something beautiful out of existing materials that might otherwise be thrown away.

Emma Douglas is an artist living and working in London, who works with a wide range of media: drawing, printing, painting, photography, sculpture and film. Her work surrounds autobiographical themes, touching on memories and moments from the past. 

Emma Douglas (b. 1956). Studied BA Fine Art at Middlesex Polytechnic, MA in Printmaking at Royal College of Art. Selected Group Exhibitions include: Small is Beautiful, Flowers Gallery 2014; Jerwood Drawing Prize 2013 and 2015, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2018; Trinity Buoy Drawing Prize 2023. Solo exhibitions include: Installation Hogchester Arts 2022, Arusha Gallery London 2022, Boo’s Closet 2021, Norwich Cathedral 2018, Saint Joseph’s Hospice 2017. Workshops: One Place East, SPACE, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Community School Barra.

Emma Douglas lives in London and has a SPACE studio in Hackney.
