Create sculptures influenced by the theme of communication seen in our current exhibition, “Ley Lines”, by Artist Tadhg Charles.

Participants will work with yarn, wire and collage to create hanging artworks that reflects ideas of connection, communication and community. Using recycled images from magazines – such as mobile phones, digital technology and people, attendees will create unique artworks exploring their experiences of communication in all its many forms.

This workshop is  free to attend.

Clare Sams’ practice is within the realm of textiles, creating wall-based artworks, soft sculptures and immersive installations. Previous works have explored themes including rising sea levels, food security, and social isolation. Using textiles as a medium fosters a sense of wellbeing and welcoming through the tactility of the work and the domestic heritage of fibre arts. The accessibility of textiles can be used to encourage dialogue on sensitive subjects, offering familiarity and comfort within its realm. Sustainability is at the core of Sams’ practice, minimising the environmental impact of the work through using sustainable, recycled and biodegradable materials.
