Sticky Business
Notes on Emotions’ Texture, Movement and Capital

A discussion and annotation of a new zine by Megan Snowe.

Join us in annotating a collection of notes on emotion-as-substance with words, actions, drawings and substances (provided), co-creating enhanced issues, more thorough than before.

Imagine an emotion like those sticky stretchy gooey hand toys you could get in a cheap vending machine outside a suburban grocery. You open the plastic pod, it smells like fresh factory, you pull out the gooey limb and fling it onto another. It lands, stays for half a second, leaves a slight residue, and returns to you carrying specks of detritus. Fling again.

Let us also consider the dried jam, the snail trail, the erotic, the internal goo of impressionable subconscious that so often seeps through cracks as a furrowed brow or slight smirk.

Why is emotion-play granting some political causes so much traction? What is the glue in an emotional bond?

Sticky is a coming, a going, a wanting, a clinging, a residue, a living. Emotional investment is what so many forces are vying for because it is the stickiest connection of all. How can you control your investments?

Snowe will present core questions driving her research while on This Time With FEELing and do casual readings of the written notes collected in Sticky Business. Please bring thoughts on textures you associate with certain emotions and the economic value of feeling-based decision making.

OpenPROCESS is a platform that responds to process-led practice. The series explores artistic production as a framework for discussion, investigating what it means to foreground process as the subject of display and exploration.
