Throughout July 2009, Nick Laessing researched the 'Free Energy Movement' in the UK, exploring alterative energy and the characters surrounding it.

Throughout July Nick Laessing was in residence in the SPACE Media Lab, exploring the free-energy movement in the UK and how this growing trend towards exploring unconventional ways of making energy can be seen as a reflection of our present political and environmental situation.

Nick interviewed inventors, scientists and researchers to gain an understanding of their motivations and progress, focusing on the human element behind their work and to understand the culture surrounding alternative and free energy research.

Through the residency Nick produced a body of work that went towards his exhibition LIGHT | READING at SPACE in April 2010
