Fossdene Primary School projects
In 2022, SPACE worked with A New Direction on an Artsmark Co-creation Project, an exciting opportunity for schools to collaborate with arts organisations. The programme consisted of four interactive sessions on Zoom focusing on partnership building, a co-creation workshop, a peer review session, as well as a final reflection and evaluation session after delivering their co-created activities. Using the metaphor of nurturing an orchard tree, partners exchanged thoughts about their existing strengths in each setting and how these could be grown, with an emphasis on the role of young people in influencing and delivering change.
SPACE artists worked with pupils from Fossdene Primary School in Greenwich on the project. Following on from this, SPACE then organised for Fossdene pupils to visit artist Naomi Workman’s studio at our Azof Street site in Greenwich. Naomi and fellow SPACE studio holder Tim Patrick then delivered further art workshops at the school, sharing their knowledge, passion and expertise with children from Year 4. Together they worked from a still life set-up, encouraging the children to draw from observation and imagination to create a Medieval banquet, complete with imaginary guests.
