‘The Power of the Marshes’, Samantha Schneider

This exhibition is a celebration of Tottenham Marshes, a collection of watercolours painted outdoors across the changing seasons. Like many, Sam’s connection to this landscape began during lockdown, when she discovered the natural beauty right on her doorstep. It became a sanctuary for me—a place to ground herself and learn the language of bird song.
Drawn to views that included pylons and cranes – she began seeing them as beautiful structures, each having a unique charm. This led to an exploration into the juxtaposition between the industrial and natural landscape and the unexpected harmony that can exist. Sam was aiming to capture the atmosphere of the scene, in the moment when all her senses were engaged.
