InProcess Residency Artist 2020-21 Announced
SPACE Art + Technology, The Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki and the Saastamoinen Foundation are pleased to announce Yassine Khaled as the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki alumni artist in residence for 2020-2021.
Yassine Khaled works across sculpture, installation, performance, painting and moving image, with the aim of visualising power relations between individuals caused by ever-increasing gaps in wealth, socio-cultural differences, labour conditions and educational opportunities.
Responding to this year’s theme ‘causality’, or the relation between cause and effect, Khaled will be in residence from January – March 2021, undertaking research for his project ‘Sense of Belonging’.
The project challenges us to explore our concept of the ‘belongingness’ of human nature by creating a hybrid between two senses: sight and sound. Khaled’s research will span art, culture, technology and politics.
