About the Workshop

Join artist Jack Briggs-Miller for a free, family-friendly cyanotype workshop inspired by Liberty Quinn’s exhibition Data Melt, currently on display at SPACE Ilford. Explore how sunlight, water, salt and temperature can transform reused paper into striking blue-and-white prints while experimenting with the fascinating cyanotype process.

Using pre-coated cyanotype paper made from reused maps, comics, damaged books and other recycled materials, you’ll discover two experimental printing techniques. Layer leaves, feathers, fabric and other natural materials onto the paper to block the sun’s rays and create detailed silhouettes, abstract textures and unique compositions.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your own collection of experimental cyanotype sun prints.

What to bring

All materials, equipment and pre-coated cyanotype paper will be provided.

If you’d like to personalise your prints, you’re welcome to bring your own:

• Leaves
• Feathers
• Pressed flowers
• Small flat objects

Who is it for?

This workshop is suitable for all ages and families.
No previous printmaking experience is needed—everyone is welcome.
