Ristomatti Myllylahti Saastamoinen Residency Artist 2022 – 2023
SPACE, The Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki and the Saastamoinen Foundation are pleased to announce Ristomatti Myllylahti as the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki alumni artist in residence for 2022 – 2023. The three-month residency period starts in autumn 2022.
Ristomatti Myllylahti is a Helsinki-based artist interested in the intersection of sound, music, performance, arts and underground contemporary experimental music.
Since 2015, Ristomatti has been making music and sounds by the name Elatu Nessa, performing around Europe and Finland in various art and music festivals and venues. The name Elatu Nessa is playing with the Finnish words ”elät unessa” meaning that you are living in sleep or dreaming.
During the residency with SPACE, Ristomatti will be combining the visual and sound practice as Elatu Nessa, transforming recorded sounds of water, nature and sea into electronic music and pieces of sound works. The project will explore these melodies and rhythms through various instruments, taking these as a base for free noise and meditative music.

The Residency Grant at SPACE is supported by The Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki in partnership with Saastamoinen Foundation.
