Join artist Mandy Toor for ‘Botanical Expressions’, a playful workshop exploring the shapes, colours and textures of the botanical world.

Taking inspiration from plants and flowers, you’ll experiment with print, pattern and mark-making to create a vibrant botanical artwork of your own. Rather than relying on traditional tools, you’ll discover how natural finds and everyday recycled materials can be transformed into unexpected printing and mark-making tools, creating rich textures and organic patterns.

Inspired by Liberty Quinn’s Data Melt exhibition at SPACE Ilford, the workshop invites us to celebrate the beauty of the natural world while thinking about how we can help to protect and preserve it. We’ll explore how art can be created in more sustainable and accessible ways, finding creative possibilities in materials found in nature and everyday items that can be reused and given a new purpose.

What to bring

All materials will be provided, but you’re invited to bring along clean recycled or natural objects that you think could create an interesting print, pattern or texture with e.g fallen leaves, twigs to cardboard, string, bubble wrap & bottle tops – have a look at what you can find and get creative!

Mandy Toor is a mixed-media artist whose creative practice is inspired by nature, colour and the beauty found in everyday life. Alongside her art practice, she has run her own beauty and holistic therapy business for over 20 years, and her background in wellbeing has shaped her belief that art should be accessible, enjoyable and open to everyone.

‘Having developed a love of art from a young age, artistic expression has remained an important part of my life and work. As a South Asian woman, I am passionate about encouraging and empowering others to embrace their creativity and make space for self-expression.’
