OpenPROCESS #6: Sophie Mallett

20 July 2016

The White Building
Wed 20 July, 7 – 8.30pm
Free, please RSVP here

Join This Time with Feeling residency artist Sophie Mallett to see what three months of artistic labour can look like. The event will be a tour of work, dialogue and admin created during her three months at SPACE, both as part of the residency and outside of it. Stops will include her collaborations with Marie Toseland, Ania Bas, Siân Hunter Dodsworth and Sophie Hope; funding applications; new commissions; talks; performances; research groups and her new work completed as part of the residency itself.

Expect to untangle autonomy, collaboration, likeability, labour, ‘busyness’, exhaustion, precarity and distraction.

OpenPROCESS is a platform that responds to process-led practice. The series explores artistic production as a framework for discussion, investigating what it means to foreground process as the subject of display and exploration.

Sophie Mallett is an artist exploring sound through the social, and the social through sound. Using a background in music, radio and documentary she pursues a practice focused on sounds’ intersection with affect, politics and value. Her approach to making is rooted in collaboration and coproduction with a reflexive emphasis on how artists and others can work together.
