This summer Playback comes to SPACE to showcase over 200 short films made by young artist filmmakers in one interactive exhibition.

About the films

These remarkable and award-winning short films made by emerging talent span a range of art forms and topics – from krumping and parkour dance shorts, to an animated tale of teenage love that unearths our desire to be as cool as the zines we read. The exhibition is made up of individual touchscreens – choose what to watch from drama, comedy, dance, and spoken word to discover the filmmakers of tomorrow.

Some of the films were originally made and produced in Hackney with SPACE Studios, where young people based in London were given the support and funding to create a short film. Now, Playback gives you the chance to see the people, places and creativity of your East London on the big screen.

About Playback

Playback travels across the length and breadth of the country to England’s major galleries, cinemas and arts venues until March 2018, where it culminates in a festival at the ICA.

When the exhibition arrives at SPACE, 92 films will be added to the exhibition and premiered to new audiences across London.

The exhibition is funded by Arts Council England and is a joint initiative with Channel 4 Random Acts.
