Animation Works

April 2018 - March 2019

The Urban Voices programme has received continuation funding from BBC Children In Need for another three years. Participants explore creative ways to express their own experiences and make their voices heard using model making, claymation, short films, virtual reality and dance.

The next series is called Animation Works and keeps the focus on 14 to 18 year olds in east London who are excluded from mainstream education or who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).

Working with filmmakers Pierre Vella and Individio, two groups of young people from Newham’s alternative education providers, Education Links, have been making animations. Group 1 created the visual content and handed it over to Group 2 who then composed music and created sound effects.

We look forward to sharing the results with you soon. Check back to this page.

Many thanks to Stour Space for letting us use their venue.

Animation Works is part of the ongoing Urban Voices project for Youth City, SPACE’s art and digital programme for young people. It is generously supported by BBC Children in Need.
